Combating HIV/AIDS Donate
AIDS is one of the gravest problems in Africa. Rwanda especially, as a country destroyed by war, with a huge population of orphans, is in a danger of uncontrolled epidemics.
Our partner organization in Kigali, "Hope After Rape" concluded that the local government does not have enough resources to conduct effective seminars and to reach all beneficaries, therefore "Hope After Rape" is making a concerted effort to supplement government programs.
MissionThe mission of their project is to support the sick and sensitise the representatives of anti-AIDS clubs in all 16 zones which make up two districts of Nyamata and Kicukiro respectively (in Kigali rural area).
The project gives new hope to its beneficiaries and a chance to overcome the sickness and re-join the society with their energy and knowledge. |

Field instructors
The concept of the operations includes creating a movement of dedicated people. Starting from one person, to the group, then a community of groups. The organization has field instructors and supports them with materials. The skills include:
psychology - dealing with fear, giving the hope - contrary to the common beliefs a person with AIDS may recover in response to a balanced diet, exercises and a medical regimen.
Scope
The project addresses the Rwandan neighbourhood communities.
The healthy can learn the facts about AIDS, apply prevention measures and take care of the sick. They can improve the diet by simple means, teach breathing exercises, and forward the information on HIV facts and prevention.
The HIV positive can take good care of themselves, learn about the diet, exercises, change the mindset and believe that they can live well for many years and contribute to others.
The sick should be given a chance, contrary to the common belief there is a chance to recover through a regimen of balanced diet, basic medications and exercises.
The terminally ill should be well taken care of. The way we are dying is also important.
