Project Approach
Sustainability first - all projects undertaken
by the foundation must have the sufficient funding in advance. The main
objective is to avoid "empty promises" and possible disappointment of the
beneficiaries. Therefore the foundation will undertake mainly end-to-end projects with the assured budget and a
calculated safety margin.
Project Definition and Life Cycle
The projects are defined in close co-operation with our volunteers in Rwanda.
This is important to ensure that projects are realistic and necessary. We are
strongly committed to the most efficient use of the received funding. The life
cycle of a defined project follows our standard business templates:
- Preparation of a business plan: key stages, responsibilities, estimating,
identifying the critical path, creating the baseline, getting the plan
approval.
- Launching the project: confirming resource commitments and funding,
scheduling milestones, status reporting, starting the project.
- Controlling the work progress: using the control and audit system,
monitoring progress, controlling the costs, managing changes.
- Completion and handover: analysing the project outcome, lessons learned,
budget verification, handing over to the end users.
- Reporting and follow up: providing the donors with the detailed project
reporting, following up the status of completed projects.
Project Budget
The finances of Amahoro Foundation are using the "Strategy of a Full Cost Recovery", what means that the
foundation manages its programs and services so that it financially breaks even,
providing as much service as the finances will allow. The foundation adopts this
strategy in an effort to provide the maximum of services within its limited
funds. |
