The Amahoro Foundation was established to assist children in Rwanda. In particular, the Amahoro Foundation works to help orphans, advance education, and relieve poverty.
We recognize that
helping children is the most effective way of achieving social progress in the
long term. We support initiatives emerging within local communities in Rwanda.
Our central focus is on programs which directly involve children, their
care-givers, and community leaders. Connecting People of Good Will is our motto.

We believe that projects depend first of all on the people involved. Human resources are the key to success. We work to create synergy among groups of children, students, women, and care-givers.
The Rwandans involved with Amahoro are our best investment. They have full knowledge of local realities and expertise to deal with it. They know the level of difficulties involved in projects, and they work hard to make a new start.
Working for a System Change.
The long
term objective of the Amahoro Foundation is
to promote system changes in Rwanda. For example many sponsors are willing to pay school fees for students. That is appreciated very much, but maybe we should start working towards basic education for free? After all, the basic education is free in all developed countries and that is one of the Millenium Development Goals.
There are many
NGOs doing good work in Rwanda, therefore Amahoro has no ambition to join the system as another one. Instead, we attempt to provide a direct connection between sponsors and projects. This approach helps to empower both sponsors and beneficiaries. To support this process, while keeping a low profile itself, Amahoro is using a concept of a VIRTUAL NGO. What does it mean?
We base our success on connecting people of good will.
This approach allows us to get people in Rwanda involved - we minimise costs by relying on Rwandan professionals and creating joint ventures with local NGOs. Therefore we do not need to build costly infrastructure and practically ALL donated money goes into actual projects.

Rwanda is a beautiful country, despite being
adversely affected by a history of colonialism, ethnic
cleansing and genocide. While remembering the victims of the Rwandan Holocaust, the Amahoro Foundation concentrates its activities on the creation of a better future. Our projects are divided into the following areas: health, education, community development and poverty relief.
